Choose charging speed from actual driving needs

The maximum charger output is not automatically the best choice. Daily kilometres, overnight parking time, vehicle acceptance rate and future vehicles all affect the useful charging level. A modest circuit may replenish a typical commute overnight while reducing infrastructure cost. Higher-output charging can be valuable for high-mileage drivers, shared vehicles or commercial turnover, but it must be supported by the electrical service and the installation environment.

Assess panel capacity before buying hardware

Send panel photos, service size, major electric loads and the charger model before finalizing equipment. We complete the load assessment and tell you whether spare capacity exists. If not, options may include approved energy management, a smaller charging circuit or a service upgrade. Buying a charger first can lock the project into output or connectivity features that do not match the site.

Plan the route and parking location

Distance, finished ceilings, foundation walls, outdoor exposure and parking geometry affect labour and materials. The charger should reach the vehicle without creating a trip hazard or requiring the cable to cross a public walkway. Outdoor equipment must be suitable for the environment and mounted where snow, impact and drainage are considered. In attached garages, fire separation and penetrations must also be handled carefully.

Condos and multi-residential buildings

Condo installations can involve board approval, electrical-engineering review, shared-service capacity, metering, billing and parking-space ownership. Start with property management before selecting a charger. A building-wide strategy may be more durable than isolated installations, especially where multiple residents are expected to adopt EVs. We work from the approved building requirements and set out clearly who is responsible for conduit, networking and ongoing access.

Commissioning and owner handoff

The completed installation should be tested, labelled and connected to the vehicle or app where applicable. Keep the charger manual, circuit information, warranty and inspection documentation. If load management is used, ask how it responds to other household loads and what the status indicators mean. For commercial systems, document network ownership, access control, payment settings and who will handle software subscriptions or support.
